Letter From Vice President of Recruitment
Dear Potential New Members,
I am so happy you’re here at Iowa State this year! It will be a year full of change, growth, and excitement.
Myself and the Zeta Delta chapter of Alpha Phi welcome you to primary recruitment 2023! We cannot wait to meet all of you and we are dedicated to making this the best experience! Primary recruitment can be stressful, fun, and confusing. But trust me, I went through primary recruitment two years ago, and the experience was so rewarding in the end. I loved getting to know the women in all the chapters on campus and discover firsthand what sorority life is about. Whether we are talking about philanthropies and values or our favorite new influencers- you walk away from Primary Recruitment as a changed woman. Speaking with recruiters all day for five days in a row is not something most people are accustomed to. At Alpha Phi, we strive to make you feel comfortable and heard when you enter our doors! We support women of all races, ethnicity of sexual orientations, political beliefs, and religions.
Primary recruitment is all about trusting the process! Each chapter has their own unique strategy that results in the best fit for new members. The best advice you will hear is to be your true authentic self. Through our values based recruitment, you will discover the purpose behind sororities. Sorority life is far from what you see on social media. The women of Alpha Phi are passionate about our values, generosity, innovation, character, and sisterhood. My sisters are constantly becoming more knowledgeable, challenging themselves, and making the world a better place. The women of this sisterhood inspire me to do the same.
Sisterhood is not four years at a university; it’s forever. Whether you find your home during primary recruitment or continuous open bidding- Alpha Phi is here to support you. Try not to let yourself become discouraged throughout the week. I promise that it will all work out! Stay true to yourself, your values, and what you stand for. After all, these long days are the start of many many memories you’ll make here at Iowa State University.

College is all about branching out and making new friends. Recruitment is a great way to bond with the women around you as you all find your new home and share this experience!
Keep an Open Mind!
Remember that you are choosing a chapter for yourself and not anyone else. Look for the place where you feel most comfortable. After all, this is your new home for the next four years!
